Painting sold at the Royal Academy
I am so delighted that my painting Bottycelli does Glasto, toothbrush, condom, lighter and a packet of mints has sold at this years 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition! It is always good to see that red dot appear! The painting is still on view at the RA till the 19th August. Check out artwork number 315 in the main bright yellow gallery.

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2018
What an experience, being chosen by Mr Grayson Perry to be in the main bright yellow gallery of room 111 at this years 250th Royal Academy Summer exhibition! An absolute honour to follow in the footsteps of so many of the great Artists of the last 250 years. The time old tradition of the procession on Varnishing day had us all following the Clergy of St James and a Calypso band from the RA to the Church. Stopping the traffic as all 1,000 of us crossed the road with looks of bewilderment from the public. The service was very moving.
Afterwards back at the Academy the excitement to see where your painting has been hung, was next on the agenda, though the champagne and food by Oliver Peyton was quite a distraction. As a newbie to the exhibition I thought I would have been put high up in a remote room but no, I am in the main gallery and at eye level and have already caught the eye of the press.
The Collection of works have been curated so well and there seems to be something for everyone. Its fun, its moving and in places quite weird, but important of all it's alive with contemporary art being made today!
Pre views and press views for the next week and of course showing the over excited family and friends, who have never known anyone to have had a painting shown. Lets hope for that red dot, the cherry on the cake as they say!

Basquiat :Boom for Real
The Basquiat exhibition at the Barbican is a real must see!
Loved all the coverage, the films, notebooks and of course all the paintings.
Quite an inspirational artist, what a tragedy he died so young at 27!
Following Basquiat's death, the writer Glenn O'Brien summed him up so well. He wrote 'He ate up every image, every word, every bit of data that appeared in front of him and he processed it all into a bebop cubist pop art cartoon gospel that synthesized the whole overload we lived under into something that made an astonishing new sense'
